Revive Mesa Opportunity

What an awesome opportunity! We are partnering with some off the leaders of Revive Seattle (www.reviveseattle.org) to reach out to the neighborhood surrounding Legacy Schools.  We will be praying for those in the neighborhood and inviting them to our Campfire Christmas Carols event.

Too scared to knock on strangers' doors? WE ARE TOO! But d
on't worry, there will be a training and we have seen God move in AMAZING ways with this ministry! (see the post from our last neighborhood prayer walk) So face your fears and come on out! We promise this will be worth it.

Celebrating!

We are celebrating today with gratitude and anticipation for what God has done and is doing through The SOURCE!  This morning a group of 18 of us were mentored by 9 members of a small group from Phoenix.  Together we talked about God's desire to see lost and hurting people come to know him, then took our faith to the streets in a neighborhood near the school where The SOURCE meets.

Our desire was to talk with people, get a feel for this neighborhood God placed us in, and pray for people who would allow us
                                    ...
and here are some snippets of what happened
                                    ...
We got a good understanding of the demographics of the neighborhood - ages, families, ethnics, spirituality, openness...

Several teams were welcomed by other believers, brothers and sisters in the neighborhood who attend other churches, and were encouraged by praying together for each other and for their neighborhood.

A team prayed for a woman whose 4 year-old grandson is awaiting a bone marrow transplant, and the next door neighbor who will be donating bone marrow.

A team connected with a homeless man who they are now assisting.

Two teams talked and prayed with people who had made suicide attempts within the past week.

Various teams prayed for illnesses, new babies, battles with cancer, struggling marriages, job losses etc.

A group connected with a lonely believer who had not attended a church in years.

One group was able to share about Jesus and pray with a Sikh.

Dozens of people read scripture about God's gift of salvation, some for the first time.

A mother and her teenage daughter prayed to accept Jesus as their lord and savior!

I'm not gonna lie, most of us were nervous, even downright scared.  But what we witnessed today is impossible to deny, that God gives boldness and courage to those who seek to do His work and have His heart.  We learned so much about our neighborhood and connected with so many people, and it never would have happened had God not prompted 27 hearts to get out of our comfort zone.
It was thrilling to walk in the steps of the early believers.
"Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ." Acts 5:42

Opportunity to Defy Status Quo

Many of us go about our lives too comfortably.  We become used to the rhythm of our routines.  Goals, plans, and dreams often take a back seat to immediate needs.  Our lives so easily become self-centered, and "normal".

But the call to be Christ-like demands more than the status quo.  Christ's followers didn't have cozy routines; They had radical lifestyles, leaving their homes and comfort to study under Jesus.  They learned from Jesus as he healed the sick, forgave offenses, and restored hope.  When they understood who Jesus is, they were sent out in teams to get messy in people's lives, to tell others about Jesus, to heal the sick, and to restore hope.

This weekend, The SOURCE is following our commitment to our core values of
COMPASSIONATE RELATIONSHIPS
                                    EXPECTANT PRAYER
                  CHRIST-LIKE SERVICE
                                           RELATIONAL OUTREACH
by teaming up with Time To Revive to begin building relationships with families in the neighborhoods that surround us.

Be bold, be brave, and step outside your comfort zone with us this Saturday to live radically for Christ.  Even if you attend another congregation, please feel free to come and join us for this training and outreach.  You'll learn a method of reaching your neighbors that you can take to your own church and neighborhood.  We will be meeting people in our neighborhood, becoming aware of their needs, asking to pray with them, and following up with those who are responsive.  Begin praying now for God to prepare the hearts of those we will meet, that they will be open to talking with us.

Saturday, October 20th

Join Us This Sunday at SoZo Coffee House

1982 N Alma School Road
Chandler, 85224

Eric has been enjoying developing a relationship with pastor Scott Morgan at Missio Dei Community ChurchMissio Dei meets weekly at SoZo Coffee House.    Scott has had the privilege to help several pastors start similar ministries and has been a great resource and encouragement to us in our process of starting The SOURCE.

We invite you to join us this Sunday, August 12th to worship together with them.  Service starts at 10:00am, but you are welcome to come earlier for coffee and fellowship.

This will be a bit of a drive for some of us, but we hope that this will help you to get even more excited about our vision to be located in a commerce center and operate as a daily environment where ordinary people encounter an extraordinary God.   Attending Missio Dei with us may help you to better understand our goals and how The SOURCE may work when we move into our cafe setting.

**As an expression of thanks for them sharing their vision and hospitality with us, we encourage you to come prepared to contribute a little something in their offering or to purchase a specialty coffee drink.

If you are unable to come, we look forward to seeing you again the following week, Sunday August 19th back at La Quinta Inn for another prayer meeting!

Overflow!

Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday for our prayer meeting!  God answered our prayers by bringing many of our committed and potential core team members together for prayer, worship, and fellowship.  We filled our meeting room to capacity!  We had a total of 45 souls, plus a puppy!  It was also great to fellowship and worship with the voices of 14 children!

Our next meeting is planned for Sunday, August 19th at the same location.  Don't worry, we have a plan for our overflow, so please continue to invite people you know who may be interested in the mission and vision of The SOURCE.

In the meantime, please continue in prayer, devoting this month to seeking God's will for your involvement and commitment to The SOURCE.  Please also pray:
1) for our leadership team as we meet with potential partners
2) for wisdom and favor with all those we deal with regarding legally establishing the church and cafe
3) for each others strength, encouragement, and discernment of God's will
4) for God to multiply our Core Group for kickoff in September
5) for God's provision of resources necessary to accomplish His vision

We also invite you to join us this Sunday at Missio Dei, a church meeting in a coffee shop in Chandler.  More information will come in the next few days.

Our prayer is for you to have an overflow of love, joy, peace and hope!
1 Thessalonians 3:12
May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you.

Romans 15:13
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

We look forward to meeting with you again soon!  In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, need encouragement, or want to pray with someone, please do not hesitate to contact our pastors or leadership team members.

We're Forming A Team!

We had the privilege to meet this week with more than a dozen friends who share our passions and are interested in being involved in our core team.  We enjoyed worshiping together through music, prayer, encouragement, and the sharing of the vision God has given us for The Source.

We are having another meeting tomorrow night, Saturday the 20th at 6:30pm.  This is for anyone who is interested in hearing more about The Source and our vision, character, and passions.  We'll share our Statement of Faith and Constitution. (If you attended Wednesday's meeting, the information given will be the same.  You're always welcome to come again for the fellowship!)

While we would love to have you join our team, we simply want to share our passion and the story of how The Source has developed so far in this journey and what some of our next steps will be.  Don't feel like you can only come if you are ready to commit!.  We also desire your feedback and ideas.  We will be praying for you as you seek God's direction for your involvement.

If you are interested in attending, or have other questions/comments, please email us at source59community@gmail.com for the location and gate code.  You can also call or text Megan at 480-201-9460.  Please leave a message if I don't pick up!
We hope to see you there!

His Glorious Riches

Philippians 4:19 "My God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus..."

As we have started this journey with The Source, we have had a variety of opportunities to trust that God will meet all our needs.  We keep saying to ourselves and to our children that God owns the "cattle on a thousand hills" (Psalm 50:10) and all the things we need to do His work.  The Source has already experienced God's provision in providing us with the vision, the leadership, and many people ready to worship and serve together.  This week he has also provided us with some material goods to further our vision to "provide a daily environment where ordinary people encounter an extraordinary God".

Our desire to meet people in the course of their everyday life has inspired the vision of The Source to operate as a daily coffee shop or cafe, both for the purpose of providing a space for Christians to meet and encourage one another daily, and as a non-threatening environment for non-Christians who wouldn't normally walk into a traditional church building to be encouraged and to encounter the love of God.  Cafe's need a lot of things in order to operate... things like THIS:

As we drove by a restaurant last week, we noticed their parking lot littered with booths about to be discarded.  We stopped in and asked to speak to the manager.  The booths were already spoken for (an OK thing since we want our furnishings to be more flexible) but their remodel left them with a bunch of dishes no longer being used.  The manager happily packaged them up for us AND directed us to another restaurant where her husband is a manager, who also contributed their leftovers.  We gave him a copy of our Core Team information packet and he said, "well, I'm happy to have a hand in spreading God's Word!"

The timing of this connection was perfect, as the second store was just about to have their bar counter top replaced.  Joseph and Eric went last Wednesday night and from 11pm-2am, in the rain, awaited, loaded, and transported 3 large sections of Corian countertop!

"...To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen"  Philippians 4:20

Continue praying with us for response to contacts we have made with other remodeling restaurants and businesses who may also be able to donate their used furnishings and other resources.

Welcome to The Source

Welcome to The Source, where our mission is to expect life change by devoting ourselves to God's Word, Community, Worship, and Prayer.  Our ministry is assembling a core team of people to live this calling with us and propel our vision of providing a daily environment where ordinary people encounter an extraordinary God!  Will you pray with us as we begin this journey?

Pray for:
1. The assembling of our core team, people committed to attend, serve, and support The Source.
2. Raising funds for start-up expenses.
3. Provision of the right location and other resources for our ministry center.
4. for the Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ to be spread throughout our community.

Thanks for following our journey.  We hope you'll join in it with us!
